Archbishop Muheria oath to Kitui Bishop Elect ahead of Holy Consecretion

Archbishop Anthony Muheria of Nyeri and the Apostolic Administrator, Diocese of Kitui today administered an oath Very Reverend Father Joseph Mwongela.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Mwongela is the Bishop Elect at our Lady of Africa Cathedral, Kitui.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the consecration of Diocese of Kitui the new Bishop was postponed to 29th August.

It had initially been set for 8th of August, but the Catholic church sort to postpone the dates, after Covid-19 cases necessitated the switch.

Mwongela will be consecrated as the new Kitui Bishop on 29th August 2020.

The Pandemic may see only a section of leaders invited to witness the consecration.

52 year old Bishop Joseph Mwongela will be consecrated at Saint Charles Lwanga school, in the outskirts of Kitui town.

Currently, Mwongela serves as the Kitui Diocesan Vicar General.

Nyeri Archbishop Anythony Muheria congratulated Kitui Bishop elect Father Joseph Mwongela over his promotion in service.

Muheria said Father Mwongela elevation to the position was God sent.

Muheria served in Kitui Diocese before being elevated to an Archbishop in 2016.

Mwongela has been the Vicar General of Kitui since 2013.
