Lamu: New Ultra-mordern Hospital To Improve Health Care

Medical agency Safari Doctors partnered with Bomu hospital to build a multi-million ultramodern level four hospital in Hindi area.

The construction of the facility is expected to  help locals access proper medical services.

The new facility called Shungwaya Health Access Limited will have a 52-bed capacity and is set to be completed within a period of 18 months.

Among the biggest donors who will also be funding the project include the renowned Shah family from Mombasa.

Already Safari doctors and its partners have opened an outpost which will offer outpatient services for the residents as the construction works for the bigger facilities begin.

The Groundbreaking ceremony was graced by Governor Issa Timammy, the Safari Doctors board led by the founder Umra Omar, Bomu hospital owners, Management and the board together with leaders from the county and top county officials.

While welcoming the development Lamu Governor Issa Timammy announced that his administration had waived all approval fees for the project so as to ensure the process of construction kicks off immediately.

Umra Omar who was the host during the ceremony Safari doctors and Bomu hospital have partnered so as to improve health services in the grassroots level.

She said the idea was initiated by the mother who started Bomu hospital in Mombasa Who is now deceased but her Sons Karim Anjarwalla, and Atiq Anjarwalla have fulfilled her dream.

“We are happy as Safari doctors to witness the groundbreaking exercise of the hospital which once complete will reduce referrals in Lamu county, women will no longer have to travel long distances to access health care and quality medical services,” she said.

Omar said they have been visualizing the idea of the hospital for over three years both at Safari doctors and Bomu hospital and termed it ‘a great fit of achievement’.
