Mombasa is currently recording more cases than any other area. Out of the 15 new cases 11 were from Mombasa with Health CS Mutahi Kagwe indicating that most cases originated from Mvita and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

In Nairobi Kawangware area is currently a high risk with ministry of health conducting mass testing. The first case in the populated settlement spread the disease to six other people out of which five others were infected.

“The rate at which the disease spreads depends on how much activity the case had, the discovery time and how fast we were able to quarantine the individual,” CS Kagwe said

6 other people have also been discharged bringing the number of total recoveries to 150 with females recovering at a higher rate than males.

“Females are recovering faster than males and also recording less deaths and this is because of preexisting conditions that are more in males than females,” Kagwe said

Out of the 21 deaths recorded so far, 4 are women while 17 are men.

Men also take the highest number in infections with 230 infections while women are 181.

The CS has expressed fears in Wajir and Mandera counties bordering Somalia which has over 528 positive cases saying that it one of the main reasons why the two counties have been locked to curb movement.
