Uhuru defends decision to send flowers to UK doctors, amid Corona crisis

President Uhuru Kenyatta has faulted skeptical Kenyans for not ‘reading and Understanding’ policies aimed at protecting the economy, among other measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus – By Gerald Gekara.

While addressing the nation from State House, the president defended Kenyan manufacturers’ decision to send free flowers to doctors and patients in the United Kingdom.

“Once the pandemic is over, the sick person will look back at Kenya when buying flowers because we helped them in times of sickness,” said Uhuru.

He went out to call upon Kenyans to remember that the virus is going to pass and the country will need to get back on its feet, and fostering good relation with its partners is paramount.

“Coronavirus will not be with us forever, this is the time to think of how we shall revive our economy, it’s very important to see ahead, we must think of ways to revive our economy,” He said.

Uhuru condemned those who are ‘making politics’ out of the Health Ministry’s efforts to control the spread of the virus, urging that the government is only in the business of keeping Kenyans alive.

“I’m asking you to be considerate, allow the government to deal with the pandemic and once this is over, we shall do an audit in broad daylight,” He concluded.

The budget that took Kenyans by surprise, detailed how the government is spending funds allocated by World Bank. Some of the most controversial items on the list included Ksh. 10 Million allocated for tea and Snacks, and Ksh. 42 Million given to hiring of Ambulances.
