Electric BRT Project Set For Completion

The Bus Rapid Transit project to alleviate traffic congestion in Nairobi is set to be completed.

On Thursday, Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority CEO Francis Gitau stated that the corridor was being secured.

In his office, Gitau stated, “We should have it completed by February or March next year.”

President Uhuru Kenyatta established Namata on February 9, 2017. Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, and Murang’a counties are included.

The authority has been given the task of creating an integrated, efficient, effective, and long-term public transportation system.

According to him, the BRT will have the right-of-way, colored pavement, a dedicated BRT lane, flyovers, level stations, pre-paid fare collection, footbridges, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and disability amenities.

Parking lots, petrol stations, repair centers, control centers, vehicle enforcement, and bus priority signals are just a few of the others.

When the project is finished, Gitau says it will be integrated with commuter trains.

“The majority of busy crossings have flyovers,” he remarked.

Race Course Road, Ring Road Ngara, Quarry Road, Juja Road, and the Pangani bridges will all have flyovers.

A fleet of 110 electric buses would be deployed, according to Gitau.
