Father, Son Killed A Gang Attack

Two people were killed at the Kisonei location in Baringo Central after a group of people attacked individuals who were planting on family farm using pangas and crude weapons.

The family of the late Richard Kibet Chumba, 69, who was killed by the rowdy members, stated that the attackers had a land dispute with their family in the past, which Chief Paul Korir had resolved.

They were ambushed while planting, resulting in the death of an elderly man and the serious injury of one middle-aged man.

According to police reports, the area chief informed them of the incident, but when they arrived at the scene, Richard Chumba had already died, and his son, Patrick Komen, died on his way to MTRH for treatment following the ambush.

Enrico Telewa Lyomu, Baringo Central Deputy OCPD, confirmed the incident and stated that they are pursuing the criminals who are still at large.

The officer also stated that the family and their attackers, who were immediate neighbours, had a history of conflict.

The same attackers had previously assaulted the deceased’s wife, causing serious injuries, and attacked the late man’s daughter in 2019.

Despite the fact that these incidents were reported to the area chief, locals claim that no action has been taken so far. The families of the deceased live in fear as the killers are still at large.
