The DCI Nairobi Central arrested and arraigned a woman, Varlene Wangui Ngatia accused of scamming unsuspecting Kenyans through online forex investments – By Enock Mukoma
Appearing before chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku at Milimani law courts Nairobi Valerie pleaded not guilty to various counts of fraud.
Wangui is said to have committed the alleged offences on different dates, with intent to defraud, within Nairobi CBD, by falsely pretending that she would invest in forex trading.
According to court files, one Joy Mwende lost kshs 2,632,000 to the hands of the alleged con-woman.
The other complainants have also been enlisted to testify for each other in the matter.
Wangui was released on cash bail of shs. 100,000 pending hearing and determination of the case.
