Gachagua Fires Warning To Azimio Protestors

"Your last day is Monday. The government will assert its authority in order to protect life and property and to uphold the rule of law. It won't be business as usual... it's wrong and immoral "He stated.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned protesters assembling under the Maandamano anti-government demonstrations that the government will not tolerate any other demonstrations.

“Your last day is Monday. The government will assert its authority in order to protect life and property and to uphold the rule of law. It won’t be business as usual… it’s wrong and immoral “He stated.

Gachagua spoke at a thanksgiving service hosted by 40 churches in Kakamega on Saturday.

“This idea of carrying sufurias on your heads and making noise during protests cannot solve anything,” Gachagua said.

According to Gachagua, the protests were not about the cost of living, but rather an attempt by Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga to force the government to negotiate for a position in government.

He stated that the government’s only meeting with Raila can be to discuss his permanent departure from the government.

“That’s the only agenda,” he explained.

“It’s time for Western to move en masse to support the government. If you keep sowing in the same place and reaping nothing, it’s time to have a paradigm shift and align yourself with President William Ruto so that the community can reap the maximum it can and develop,” he said.
