Governor Kingi Commissions New Waterfront

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has officially opened the Buntwani Waterfront Park in Malindi town, enhancing the hopes of increased tourism opportunities in the resort town. 

While opening the facility which is an expected game-changer in matters of tourism, the Governor said the county was gaining ground in reviving the tourism industry in Kilifi and as thus, making the county a preferred holiday destination for both local and international tourists. 

“The new Buntwani Waterfront Park whose first phase I have launched today in Malindi, once complete, will be the longest and largest waterfront beach in the entire African Continent, thereby fully harnessing both the Tourism and Blue Economy sectors in Malindi town and Kilifi County at large,” the Governor said. 

He was optimistic that the facility in Shella ward will in the end spur a surge in trade and investment, creating countless job opportunities for our people and improving our socioeconomic standards. 

“As a county government, we shall continue to foster mutually beneficial ventures with the national government and development partners to ensure we revitalize key sectors, diversify income generating activities and transform livelihoods,” he said.
