Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua and Elgeyo Marakwet Senetor Kipchumba Murkomen clashed with each other on twitter after Murkomen took issue with how Mutua was cleared of any wrong doing by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Mutua was under probe by the DPP and EACC over fraudulent purchase of 16 second hand motor vehicles for the county government.
In a tweet Senetor Murkomen told Mutua that he is only surviving because of political protection that he is enjoying saing that he was dubiously cleared from prosecution.
“You are only surviving because of political gymnastics. If EACC excercises its independence under the new management you will never ever talk again. You were dubiously cleatred. You are a governor of ‘vipindiree’ and ‘cinemaree’. You are worse than the cobra squad you used to act.” The vocal senator tweted.
Mutua could not let it go. He rubbished Murkomen’s claims saying that he has never been corrupt and needs no protection from anyone insisting that he is clean.
“I wish to inform Murkomen that I am NOT under any investigation by any agency. The DPP cleared me last year of any wrong doing and the FALSE politically instigated accusations about vehicles are no more. I have NEVER been corrupt and need no one’s protection. I am CLEAN.” Mutua said in his reply to Murkomen.
Mutua did not stop at that as he pushed the Senetor to clarify whether he pocketed Sh100million in a recent maize scandal.
The two have been colliding on twitter on several occasions probably because of their political alliance.
Senetor Murkomen is allied to Deputy Pressident William Ruto while Governor Mutua recently allied himself with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga in support of the Building Bridges Intiative(BBI).
Last year Mutua was cleared by the EACC and the DPP in a consent that was adopted by three appeal judges where the two bodies undertook not to prosecute the Governor after it emerged that he saved taxpayers money by purchasing the second hand vehicles then used the reminder of the money to buy ambulances and tarmacking of roads in the County.
