County Executive for ICT, Trade and Industrialization Dr. Emily Kogos has asked the contractors building the county markets to work with speed in order to meet the stipulated completion time set out in their construction plans.

Speaking as she toured the Kimumu-Bahati wholesale market, Kogos noted that the public across the county is eager for the market’s completions.

“We promised the people that these markets will be of help to them and so we want the duration mentioned in the plans to be affected”, said Kogos

…we have realized for example Kimumu-Bahati market is faced with water hampering the construction process but that doesn’t stop the works. We are addressing the issue”, she added

According to the site contractor Ibrahim Hassan, despite the raging rains that have brought about friction in the construction process, they are striving hard to meet the deadlines.

There has been a lot of water but we are stationed at the site because we want to stick to the timelines provided in the plan” he noted

Later Dr. Kogos accompanied by Trade Chief Officer Simeon Tanui toured the kimumu-Marura market to check on its operation.

The market despite being the off-market day (the day that is not supposedly fully operational) but registering an increase in the number of traders.

This was through the department’s urge on traders who secured the slots to make use of them.
