IEBC: All Set For Elgeyo-Marakwet Senatorial By-Election

Preparations for tomorrow’s senatorial by-election in Elgeyo-Marakwet county have been completed with all materials already delivered to polling stations.

The county has 554 polling stations and election officials have been deployed to make the exercise a success.

While speaking to journalists in Iten, Elgeyo-Marakwet IEBC county administrator Charles Kimutai said that they are doing well so far and that they are continuing to address all needs in order to make the entire electoral exercise a success.

According to Kimutai, all materials are ready, and their officials have already been dispatched to various polling stations.

According to an IEBC official, despite the rain in Elgeyo Marakwet County, they are committed to transportation issues and will face no challenges.

The IEBC Electoral Commissioner continues to encourage all Elgeyo Marakwet County residents to vote and to maintain the call for peace.

The by-election which is scheduled for Thursday, January 5, follows the resignation of Murkomen after he was appointed to the Cabinet.

Other candidates eying the seat are Tim Kipchumba (Party for Peace and Democracy), Timothy Tanui (The New Democrats) Mengich Kibiwott (Independent) and Jerotich Seii (Safina).
