UDA: Summon Joho, Junet Over Edited Video

UDA secretary general Veronica Maina complained about the aforementioned leaders and the ODM party in a letter dated August 2 and asked that their accounts be suspended.

A viral video clip that was shared on the Twitter accounts of Mombasa governor Ali Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has prompted UDA to write to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

UDA secretary general Veronica Maina complained about the aforementioned leaders and the ODM party in a letter dated August 2 and asked that their accounts be suspended.

She claimed that the video was choreographed with the purpose of fomenting hatred and violence.

“We implore your office to act immediately and take action with a view to take down the unlawful videos, as well as suspend the respective accounts for propagating hate speech. This video has also been intentionally edited with a deliberate aim and objective to cause ethnic hate, fear and intolerance during this peak political season,” UDA claimed.

She claimed that the video has stoked hatred, engendered paranoia, and is motivating tribal divisions.
