KAA Unveils Electric Buses To Ply JKIA Route

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has launched new electric buses to ply the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) route.

This was in partnership with Metrotrans East Africa Limited and Super Metro Limited.

KAA said the move to launch electric commuter buses showcases dedication to innovation, sustainable transportation, and improved passenger services.

“These electric buses mark a significant stride towards sustainability, perfectly aligning with the National Government’s strategic goals. We’re committed to adopting green energy and promoting eco-friendly practices and solutions,” said KAA chairman Caleb Kositany during the launch event on Wednesday.

He said new buses also feature improved accessibility options, including wheelchair ramps, ensuring that the services are inclusive and accessible to all.

The buses will cover multiple routes connecting JKIA to key areas in Nairobi, such as Kitengela, Expressway – CBD, Utawala – Embakasi – Outering – CBD, and Expressway – Westlands.
