Agnes Kagure has officially announced her candidacy for Nairobi City County Governor.
The businesswoman, who operates an insurance firm following periods in the banking industry, declared her candidacy at a ceremony in Kasarani.
She has vowed to devote her life to improving the lives of people living in the country’s capital.
"I'd want to transport you from the city of mourning to the city of joy." "The year of jubilation will be 2022 and beyond." She exclaimed
Members of the Agikuyu elders indicated during the occasion that they will support Kagure in the August 9th elections for the seat now held by Anne Kananu Mwenda.
Wachira Kiago, the national head of the Kikuyu Council of Elders, stated that the elders had decided to rally around Kagure after deliberations, adding that she was best prepared to oversee the issues of Nairobi, and that the elders had agreed to provide funds to help her campaigns.
Among those who have already stated their intentions to run for Nairobi governor, are Senator Johnson Sakaja, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Richard Ngatia among others.
