Angella Okutoyi has made history as the first Kenyan girl to win a Grand Slam juniors match.

Angela Okutoyi secured a hard-earned 2-1 win over Federica Urgesi in the main draw of the Girls Singles.

Okutoyi, who is making her debut at the Australian Open, won the match by 2-1 sets of 6-4, 7-6 and 6-3 in two hours and 13 minutes at the Melbourne Park.

Kenyans online applauded her win and hoped a state commendation will be in order.

In her next match, Okutoyi will face Zara Larke from Australia.
