Kiambu Governor Waititu Surrenders to EACC officers to answer to 588 Million road tender row

Embattled Kiambu County governor, Ferdinand Waititu has surrendered to EACC after being reported missing for two days.

On Friday, Director of Public Prosecutions Dr. Nurdin Hajji had issued an arrest warrant to Mr. Ferdinand Waititu, over charges of mismanagement of county funds.

Waititu is facing possible charges of corruption and abuse of Office charges in reference to irregular awarding of tenders worth 588 Million to one ‘Testimony Enterprises’. It is also alleged that out of the 588 Million awarded, 51.2 Million was given to his wife.

EACC detectives then went forward to raid his home at 5.30 am on Saturday, but left empty handed as neither Waititu nor his family was present at their homes. The offcers then proceeded to comb his hangoit joints and a hotel building at Nairobi City Center, but their search bore no fruits.

Waititu finally presented himself to EACC offices, accompanied by his lawyer. The detectives have since not located his family.

Among those arrested in the illegal tender row are; M/S Testimony enterprise CEO, Charles Chege and two Kiambu county Tender Committee members, Joyce Ngina Musyoka and Simon Kabocho Kangethe.
