Kipchoge scoops BBC World Sport Star Award

Kipchoge has done it again and this time round he was able to  scoop the BBC World Sport Star of the Year, 2019.

This comes after Kenyans online complained of not being able to vote for the champion as their devices gave them an error message but despite this, the 1:59 champion emerged head in the online public vote.

His competitors in the awards were American gymnast Simone Biles, South Africa’s Rugby World Cup-winning captain Siya Kolisi, Australian cricketer Steve Smith, American golfer Tiger Woods and USA footballer Megan Rapinoe, who co-led her team to World Cup victory.

Apart from the BBC award this year has proved to be a good one for the marathon runner as he has also gotten others awards including, an Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree by the University of Exeter, an Honorary Doctorate in Science by the Laikipia University on December 6, recognizing his contribution to the field of sports and was also crowned as the 2019 World Athletics Male Athlete of the Year during the World Athletics Gala in Monaco.
