Government Officials Meet to Evaluate Konza Buffer Zone

County government officials from counties surrounding the Konza Technopolis are set to finalize the Buffer Zone Plan for development.

Deputy Governor Makueni County, Governor Kajiado County H.E. Joseph Ole Lenku, and CECMs in charge of ICT, Lands, and Physical Planning from Kajiado, Makueni, and Machakos Counties were present in the meeting

A buffer zone is a neutral geographic area between two or more bodies of land, typically those of different nations.

The purpose of a buffer zone can be to divide or link territories, depending on its kind.

Buffer zones offer essential habitat next to streams and wetlands and help prevent erosion, particularly on unstable steep slopes.

Wildlife can travel between protected areas in buffers along streams and other bodies of water, creating wildlife corridors.

The goal of the Konza Buffer Zone Inter-County Physical Planning and Land Use Development Plan is to protect both local and foreign investment as well as to encourage peaceful growth between Technopolis and its surroundings, as envisioned by CS Eliud Owalo.
