KPA under probe over 2.7billion theft.

Kenya Ports Authority is under probe over 2.7billion believed to have been stolen from the Authority.

The Authority’s Managing Director Daniel Manduku is said to have authorized irregular expenditures totaling to Sh2.73 billion in three projects; Makongeni Good shed Yard, manufacture of Concrete Barriers and Kisumu Port Revitalization.

The DCI believes Manduku and others may have breached procurement procedures. Manduku is alleged to have overseen preparation of bails of quantity of 8 firms without requisition forms from the user, inland container depot in Nairobi for the Makongeni Goodshed project.

Manduku, General Manager Operations William Rutto, Senior Works Officer Antony Muhanji, works officer Juma Chigulu and Principal Works officer Bernard Nyobange,are being investigated for allegedly colluding to divide the 2100 square meters yard belonging to Kenya Railways into 9 zones and awarding 8 contractors the concrete works.
