The Kenya Urban Roads Authority has warned vandals against destroying road infrastructure, after two were charged in court for the offence. – By Gerald Gekara.
The two, Mr. Michael Mwaura and Joseph Lekuyo both aged 30 years, were reportedly caught destroying road guard rails worth Ksh. 500,000 in the wee hours of the night.
KURA said the duo were caught at the newly expanded Ngong Road cutting off guard rails for resale.
The authority confirmed they were taken to court for the offence on Monday, 4th January.
They warned Kenyans against misusing road infrastructure as their effectiveness relied on their availability on the roads.
Since completion of construction, structures at Outer-Ring road and Ngong Road have suffered under the hands of scrap metal dealers who often sell them in the black market.
