The Likoni Ferry crossing point is on the spotlight once again after a lorry loaded with goods plunged into the deep waters. – By Gerald Gekara.
According to witnesses, the trailer was approaching the ferry ramp, when the truck lost control at the pow, before plunging into the water.
“At 4:15 am a loaded truck Reg. TZ548 while boarding mv kilindini from mainlad side lost contol after hitting the ferry’s prow causing the truck plunge into the sea. The truck had one occupant who escaped un hurt.” Kenya Ferry tweeted.
Kenya Ferry Services, alongside security operators and locals helped the driver off the truck.
The incident comes barely three days after a tourist bus suffered the same fate.
Locals and drivers crossing the ferry have cited slippery approaches that are a danger to motorists during the rainy season.
