Matiangi disarms Sonko MCA’s as war escalates

The turf war between Major General Badi and Governor Mike Sonko has escalated with the disarming of all the 88 MCA’s in Nairobi – By Faith Mutete.

Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi, who declared the 88 MCA’s as illegal gun owners has so far mopped up 14 firearms.

The guns cost between Sh.250,000 and 500,000 per piece.

Most of the MCA’s lack of basic firearm handling skills, exposing themselves, their families, and voters to risk.

The disarming of the MCAs was informed by security intelligence advice…and mounting tension at the county.

The guns range from Ceska and Jericho pistols to automatic and lethal arsenal reserved for elite state agents and snipers.

Governor Sonko reportedly operates a cache of weapons that he uses to intimidate political and business rivals.

After Nairobi County, Matiangi will target other MCAs.

The CS is not done yet. He has directed that all cowboy gun holders and runners be disarmed in a bid to ensure security for all Kenyans is guaranteed.

And for good reasons. Mathare MCA is already ln trial for allegedly shooting dead one person on Kilifi County.

Three months ago, Embakasi East Mp Babu Owino shot a club DJ, leaving him with permanent injuries that cost him his deejaying career.

The motive of the attack has never been established. He has since been charged in court.

The withdrawal of the licensed guns comes at a time when mysterious murders, suicide and even rape involving gun owners have been reported.
