NMS To Close Down Six Bus Stations In Third Test Run

The Nairobi Metropolitan Services have set June 15th as its new date for a scheduled test run of the Green Park Terminus from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. – By Caleb Mwikya.

All public service vehicles traveling via Langata Road, Ngong Road, and Argwings Kodhek Road to Kikuyu, Ngong, Kawangware, Dagoreti, Kibera, Highrise, Ngumo, Rongai, Kiserian, Otiende, Langata, Otiende, Madaraka, and Nairobi West will be directed to drop and pick up passengers at the Green Park terminus.

Moi Avenue Service Lane (Outside Development, AGRHO, and Gill homes), Nairobi Railway Station Bus Terminus, Hakati Stage, Ambassador, Mfangano Street, and Kencom will all use the Green Park Terminus during the test run.

PSVs leaving the Nairobi Railway Station Bus Terminus towards Machakos and Kitengela will take Lusaka Road from the Nyayo Stadium roundabout to the Hakati Bus Terminus, where Langata and Nairobi West/Madaraka buses operate.

“PSV pick-up and drop-off will resume from the regular sites when the test run is completed until further notice.”

On Friday, May 28, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., the agency conducted its second test run. The NMS evening experiment was conducted in comparison to the first test run, which transpired between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27.

The morning test run saw a traffic jam as commuters rushed to work, as opposed to the evening test run, which was more accommodating for passengers on their way home.

NMS Transport Director Engineer Michael Ochieng stated that he will figure out how to avoid confusion during the morning test runs, and that he is analyzing how best to drop off passengers, restructure common exits, and re-analyze last-mile connectivity.

The agency intends to build terminals at Ngara’s Fig Tree, Bunyala and Workshop Road, Muthurwa, and the Globe Cinema Roundabout.
