Security agencies in the Kerio Valley have received another illegally held firearm as part of the ongoing ‘Operation Rudisha Bunduki’ disarmament exercise.
On 8th October 2025, a member of the public in Kiptumbur Location voluntarily surrendered an AK-47 rifle along with twenty-two rounds of ammunition to the security officers leading the operation.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the latest recovery brings the total number of weapons surrendered under the initiative to 286 illegal firearms, 2,093 rounds of ammunition, and one rifle grenade.
The NPS commended residents for their growing cooperation with security teams, noting that the success of the operation reflects a strengthened partnership between law enforcement and local communities.
The ‘Rudisha Bunduki’ operation, which aims to disarm civilians and restore security in the banditry-prone Kerio Valley, has been credited with fostering renewed hope for lasting peace and stability in the region.
