One person was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the Kiangwaci area of Ndia, Kirinyaga County, along the Sagana-Karatina highway.
According to residents, the deceased was about to board a Kibingoti-bound matatu when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
“He was on his way home from work when the vehicle hit him. He used to work here,” they added.
Meanwhile, residents have complained about an increase in traffic accidents along the busy route.
There has been an increase in the number of cases of road accidents along the Makutano-Sagana-Karatina highway,” they said.
They demanded that the contractor install proper signage and speed bumps to prevent such incidents.
The deceased’s body was taken to a nearby mortuary, and the vehicle was towed to Sagana Police Station.
