Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya alliance party leader Raila Odinga has declared Monday, March 20 a public holiday.

Speaking during a rally in Siaya on Tuesday, the former Prime Minister stated that the holiday would allow Azimio supporters who would normally go to work to join the protests.

“I hereby declare, in the name of Azimio one Kenya Alliance, We declare that Monday, March 20 will be a public holiday,” Raila stated.

He noted the protests will be peaceful.

“We do not want any kind of violence or bloodshed. It is going to be peaceful. We are only doing this because it is the only alternative that we have.”

The ODM leader made the announcement after a request from Azimio principal who was Odinga’s running mate in 2022, Martha Karua.

“I’m asking Raila to declare Monday, March 20th a national holiday. Kenyans should not be expected to work and protest. We need to do this once and for all. Stealing of votes should come to an end.

“If you are confident you won the elections, open the servers and prove yourself. Kenyans will be exercising their constitutional rights to seek the truth. I’m pleading with all Kenyans to come out in numbers for the mass action,” she stated.
