Rugby Legend Humphrey Kayange Lands New IOC Job

Humphrey Kayange, who serves as an athlete’s representative on the Olympic Kenya Executive Committee, was appointed by IOC President Thomas Bach.

Kayange was fighting for the position, but he considered withdrawing because Kenya only has 87 competitors at the Games, compared to countries like the United States and China, which have large delegations.

The athletes from each country are represented in the election.

This is wonderful news for Kenya, which now has two members on the IOC Executive Board, one of whom is the Olympic Committee President, Paul Tergat.

Tergat is presently a member of the IOC, having been re-appointed for another eight years and serving on the Disciplinary Board.

Kayange was an Olympian who captained Kenya’s 7s team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro before retiring.
