Police Officer Attacked By Bodaboda Riders After Causing An Accident

While driving on the wrong side of the road, Senior Assistant Inspector General Zachary Kingori Mwangi struck and killed two pedestrians.

Inspector of Police Flora Mwongeli of Lang’ata, who was on patrol along the busy road, said the car was traveling in the approximate direction of Karen, followed by dozens of motorcyclists.

On Thursday, August 5, at about 5 p.m., the incident occurred.

“When Mwongeli realized something wasn’t right, she closely followed behind.

When she arrived in the Lang’ta Barracks area, she discovered the vehicle had already been trapped and the driver was being beaten.

“She intervened and saved the driver and a female passenger, but the driver had already had minor lip and arm bruises,” according to the police report.

The accident damaged Mwangi’s vehicle registration number KBU 754M on the front bumper, but the bikers destroyed the left side windscreens, according to the report.

”Upon arriving at the police station, Mwangi recorded in the Occurrence Book (OB) that he was involved in an accident while on his way to Karen hospital to pick a person in distress. The officer left with his motor vehicle and the lady passenger who was not injured in the melee,” the statement reads.
