President Ruto arrived in Kitale on Saturday morning for a two-day tour of Trans Nzoia County.
Among those who accompanied him were Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, and Trans Nzoia Governor Natembeya.
The President is in Kiatali for Monsignor Henry Juma Odonya’s episcopal Ordination and Installation as Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale, which is currently taking place at the Kitale Showground.
Governor Natembeya has been holding meetings in the days leading up to Ruto’s visit.
The new bishop was a priest in Eldoret before being appointed by Pope Francis to lead Kitale Diocese on November 4, 2022.
He takes over for Bishop Maurice Crowley, who is retiring at the age of 75.
