Woman,23, Caught Selling Drugs Inside Thika Courts

A daring 23-year-old woman arrested while trafficking narcotic drugs within the premises of Thika law courts in Kiambu County has pleaded with the court to forgive her saying she will never commit the offence again.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo, Martha Muthoni Muhindi begged the court to forgive her saying only they tempted her to come and sell the drugs with the court.

She was however remanded at Thika main prison for two weeks as the court awaits a narcotic report from the government chemist to ascertain the exact type of the narcotic.

According to the charge sheet Muthoni was arrested with 20 rolls of bhang valued at Ksh.2000 that she was selling to criminal suspects at Thika law courts cells as they await to be arraigned in court.

She was then charged with the offence of trafficking narcotic drugs contrary to section 4(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act No. 4 of 2022.

Shockingly, the accused person addressed the court asking for forgiveness.

“Unaomba msamaha, unakuja kuuza bangi kortini!” paused Thika Law Courts Chief Magistrate Atambo.

She will be sentenced on October 9,2023.
