By John Mutiso

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 9,159 job vacancies in the commission.

In an advertisement on Tuesday, November 25, TSC said it is seeking to replace teachers who exited the service through natural attrition.

The vacancies include 7,065 primary school posts, 12 Junior school posts and 2,082 Secondary School posts.

“The Teachers Service Commission is declaring 9,159 vacancies to replace teachers who exited service through natural attrition, i.e. 7,065 posts for primary schools, 12 posts for Junior Schools and 2,082 posts for Secondary Schools.

“The teachers recruited will serve on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service,” read the notice in part.

Interested candidates are required to hold Kenyan citizenship and possess a minimum of a P1 certificate for Primary Schools and a minimum of a diploma in education for junior schools and Secondary schools.

The applicants must also be registered teachers with TSC.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

“Details on available vacancies per County/or Schools are on the Teachers Service Commission’s website: www.tsc.go.ke,” TSC stated.

The deadline for submitting the applications is December 8, 2025, at midnight.

At the same time, the commission stated that shortlisted candidates will be required to present their original academic and professional certificates during interviews.

TSC also mentioned that preference will be given to applicants who have not previously been employed by the Teachers Service Commission.

The commission also said successful candidates will be posted to serve in any part of the Country and not necessarily in the County or School where they were interviewed.

Further, the TSC cautioned applicants against falling victim to fraudsters who may attempt to extort money while pretending to assist in the recruitment process.

“The recruitment exercise is free of charge. The Teachers Service Commission forewarns applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment,” TSC added.

This comes months after the commission advertised 4,000 vacancies for intern teachers in Junior Schools.

In an advert on Tuesday, August 12, TSC invited interested and qualified teachers to apply for the vacancies.

“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 24,000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency Based Curriculum,” TSC stated.

The internship program will run for 12 months, with interns receiving a monthly stipend of KSh20,000.

TSC also announced 21,313 vacancies for principals, deputy principals, headteachers, deputy headteachers, and senior teachers across the country.
