Turkana County Assembly has announced the death of Lakezone ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Michael Egialan Ekwar, who died on Saturday 4th November 2023 after a short illness.
Egialan was elected to the Turkana County Assembly on a UDA ticket and served as a first-term MCA.
In a statement to the media, Turkana County Assembly Speaker Christopher Nakuleu stated that the late MCA was a hardworking leader who participated in the passage of important motions and bills in the Assembly.
“He worked tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of his constituents, always advocating for their well-being and development. His contributions to the County Assembly were invaluable, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him,” he said.
Nakuleu stated that before the late MCA Joined politics, he served as the chairman of NGCDF Turkana North from 2013-2021. Before the position, he was a senior chief of Ng’isiger Location, a position he held for more than 20 years.
Burial preparations are currently underway in Lowarengak village, Turkana North.
