Uhuru Attends Pro-Handshake Lunch Date

President Uhuru Kenyatta has invited pro-Handshake MPs to a luncheon at State House today, a week after the National Assembly passed the contentious Political Parties (Amendment) Bill 2021.

The agenda for the meeting was not immediately available, but insiders suggested it will be used to evaluate their performance in Parliament.

Members of the National Assembly leadership told People Daily that the invitation was only made to MPs who support the government’s agenda in the House.

“This is a conference of pro-Handshake and like-minded MPs.” “Those who have been opposed to government business have been excluded,” stated Adan Keynan, Joint Parliamentary Secretary for the Jubilee Coalition.

He was adamant that politicians aligned with Deputy President William Ruto, who unsuccessfully attempted to derail the Bill’s approval during last week’s tumultuous deliberations, were not invited.

Uhuru and Raila used their parliamentary numbers to overcome opposition from Ruto’s allies and pass all of the key clauses of the Political Parties Bill.

Despite Ruto’s UDA team’s valiant efforts to pass Bill revisions, the Handshake side marshaled their forces to defeat all of the suggested adjustments.
