Volkswagen Open To New Software Pact With Automakers

Volkswagen Chief Executive Herbert Diess told Der Spiegel that the company is open to developing software in collaboration with other automakers.

Volkswagen has consolidated all of its software efforts into Cariad, in the hopes of taking on Tesla and Alphabet in a field where it hasn’t previously competed.

According to Diess, the development of autonomous driving operating systems and software has substantial one-time expenses, making it critical to equip as many vehicles as possible with the technology in order for it to pay off.

Diess stated, “We are open to dialogue and prepared to share our platform.”

Volkswagen has recently handed over its payment platform to JPMorgan, in addition to exploring software development agreements.

Normally, JP Morgan does not distinguish its earnings from online platforms; nonetheless, the company’s most recent financing agreements have lofty objectives.

Volkswagen’s payment unit will also be rebranded as a result of this acquisition.

Driver payments, as well as parking, charging, gasoline, and other in-car entertainment, will all be handled through the platform.

It essentially transforms the platform into a digital wallet, allowing the motorist to pay while driving.
