Woman Arrested In Kisii After Stabbing Husband To Death

Kisii detectives said on Wednesday that they had apprehended the woman suspected of stabbing her estranged husband to death in the Jogoo area on Monday night.

The suspect, 35, was apprehended on Tuesday evening as she tried to escape.

The woman is accused of storming into the rental house in Kisii’s Jogoo area on Monday night, where the deceased,  Abina Ondieki, 45, lived with his lover.

She stabbed him severally in the neck and left eye with a knife, leaving him in a pool of blood.

He died hours later while being treated by doctors at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Kisii Central police station sub-county police commander Amos Ambasa said the suspect would be arraigned in court on murder charges.

According to police, Ondieki had earlier had a disagreement with the suspect, who sneaked in armed with a knife and stabbed him.

The second wife had left the house to go and close the gate to their rented house, where she doubled as the caretaker.

On her way back, she met the co-wife walking out of her house and upon getting in, she found her husband crying while shouting, “she has stabbed me with a knife.”

The body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
