Gideon Moi Backs Raila For 2022 Bid

Gideon Moi, the chairman of Kanu, has left the One Kenya Alliance and is said to be working on a 2022 coalition with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Kanu’s top brass have agreed to rally behind Raila, a move that will likely shake up the nebulous One Kenya Alliance.

This comes at the backdrop of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s promise to the alliance.

The principle who recently skipped meetings with the OKA proponents, was rumoured to be courting the alliance to boost his political profile.

Deputy President William Ruto, who is his arch rival in the rift valley province, has challenged any alliance that seeks to go against him.

He has castigated the idea of a Jubilee-ODM alliance, accusing its proponents of dividing the country along tribal lines.

So far, ODM has not unveiled its preferred Presidential Candidate.

UDA has since claimed Ruto’s shot at leading the party was not guranteed. The emerging candidates will compete against the likes of Mukhisa, and whatever will be left of the One Kenya Alliance.
