Governor Abdulswamad Nassir Blasts Linda Mwananchi Faction for Visiting Raila’s Grave

Mombasa Governor Adbulswamad Nassir, on Monday, April 27, hit out at the Linda Mwananchi team led by Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya governor James Orengo, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, for visiting the grave of the late Raila Odinga in Bondo.

Governor Nassir accused them of being pretentious and shedding crocodile tears at Raila’s residence, and alleged that some of them wished him dead when he was alive.

He called them out for purporting to defend the departed ODM Leader’s legacy, yet they dumped ODM to shape their own political ventures.

“We honour the name of Baba, although we have naysayers; those who have left the party and pretend to be shedding tears at Raila’s grave, yet when he was alive, they wanted him to die,” Nassir stated.

The Governor made the statement after he declared that the new level four hospital being constructed in Kongowea would be named after the former Premier.

He explained that the action would honour the memory of Raila, who championed equal access to healthcare for all Kenyans across the country.

“This hospital will be named the Raila Odinga Kongowea Hospital. This is because Baba believed that every Kenyan should have access to medical care irrespective of their tribe or whether or not they are a shareholder,” Nassir reiterated.

This comes after the ODM Linda Mwananchi team visited the former party leader Raila Odinga’s grave in Bondo, Siaya.

The faction, claiming to be aligned with the party’s core principles and upholding Raila’s legacy, visited Kang’o Ka Jaramogi on Saturday, April 25, following their rally in Shamakhoho, Vihiga.

Orengo stated the visit sought blessings from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Raila Odinga, and aimed to invoke a revolutionary spirit.

He maintained that their faction remains solid despite the escalating wrangles with their ODM Linda Ground counterparts.

“Today, I led the Linda Mwananchi Movement to Kang’o Ka Jaramogi to honor the giants who paved the way. I returned to the roots of the struggle to pay homage to my mentor, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and my comrade, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. Before we take the stage, we seek the blessings of our elders and the spirit of the revolution. The foundation is solid. The mission is clear. Kisumu, we are ready. See you tomorrow!” Orengo stated.

After the visit, Sifuna revealed he had unspoken words, though it was unclear whether they were intended for the late former prime minister or his supporters.

“I went to see my boss in Bondo ahead of tomorrow’s rally in Kisumu. I have things to say,” said Sifuna.
