Bomas CEO Charged Over Kitchen Items Tender Scandal

The Bomas of Kenya CEO, Peter Gitaa Koria has been charged with willful failure to comply with procurement Laws barely a week after the High Court lifted his suspension and ordered his immediate and unconditional reinstatement to office.

According to the Prosecution, the CEO willfully failed to comply with the law relating to procurement on diverse dates between December 2020 and June 2021.

The prosecution claim that CEO Koria violated procurement laws by engaging in procurement process without an approved budget in relation to quotation.

The accused is said to have given a misleading information to quotation of 32 Kitchen items, 16 utensils, 18 plates and cups and quotation of 19 cattery and other items during the year 2020/2021.

Appearing before Milimani Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki, the accused denied the charges with his defense Lawyers led by Danstan Omari informing court that the CEO was wrongly dragged to court by the prosecution in an attempt to ensure he does not assume office as ordered by the High Court.

He was released on Ksh 5 million bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 1 million.
