The Milimani Commercial Court in Nairobi has issued interim injunctive orders restraining blogger George Opunga Tamata from posting or circulating any further defamatory material against Lugari MP Hon. Nabii Daraja Nabwera, pending an inter partes hearing.
In a ruling delivered under Civil Case, the court noted that the application, dated November 10, 2025, sought urgent intervention compelling the defendant to pull down alleged defamatory posts made in the Lugari Watchdog Forum linking the legislator to the disappearance and death of Munyuki High School Principal, Simon Isiaho Shange.
After considering the matter ex parte, the court granted an interim injunction restraining the defendant from posting, circulating or publishing the statements complained of by the applicant until the next hearing.
The case stems from a Notice of Motion and Plaint filed by MP Nabwera through his lawyer, Danstan Omari, alleging that the defendant, a political blogger, published false and malicious statements on Facebook pages including Kakamega Online, Lugari Post and Malava Watchdog. The posts allegedly carried captions such as “MP Nabwera Daraja Nabii come clean on the death of this teacher” and “Vanished after defying an MP.”
In his filings, the legislator said the publications falsely linked him to the principal’s disappearance and were politically motivated, resulting in threats from the public to storm his home in Lugari.
The court has set the inter partes hearing for November 20, 2025, when both parties are expected to make their submissions.
