Bring Your Own Budget — Ndii Tells Off Financial Bill Critics

Kenyans opposed to the Finance Bill 2023 were told off by President William Ruto’s main economic advisor, David Ndii.

Ndii defended the Finance Bill 2023, claiming that it was written with competent advice and with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in mind.
Dr. Ndii was reacting to concerns voiced after Treasury Cabinet Secretary Prof Njuguna Ndung’u submitted the Finance Bill 2023, which imposed new taxes with exemptions for certain commodities.

Lobby organizations, for example, challenged the 3% housing levy fund, questioning the criteria for picking beneficiaries of the same housing project.

Activists contended that making the housing charge mandatory harms workers who are already burdened by new NSSF deductions and NHIF rates.
