Mutua-Mucheru War That Initiated KFCB Boss Removal

Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has explicitly said in a Twitter post that CS Joe Mucheru has removed Mutua from office.

However, Dr. Mutua himself claims he is still in office.

“My attention has been drawn to reports on social media to the effect that I have been fired as CEO of KFCB. PLEASE IGNORE such malicious rumours. I am not aware of such developments and there can be no grain of truth in them as there’s no vacancy in the office of the CEO KFCB.”

Mutua chronicles began a month ago when State Corporation Advisory Commission (SCAC) wrote to CS Joe Mucheru demanding that Mutua vacates office for various unsubstantiated claims.

The letter was copied to various Government agencies including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), EACC and the Auditor General.

The beef between Dr. Mutua and the Cabinet Secretary emanates from an extension of his contract by the KFCB board.

It was executed during a full board meeting that was chaired by the chairman Bishop Kosgei.

It is understood that SCAC sent an officer to veto the meeting held on May 24th but they were barred from accessing the venue.

Reason? The board had not been informed in advance about the SCAC official, who they considered a stranger.

Incidentally, Mutua and CS Mucheru have never had a good working relationship prior to the current war.

KFCB CEO will now be replaced by Christopher Wambua, ending his six-year run at the helm.
