Police Boss Mutyambai Acts After Kianjokoma Brothers Killing

Police Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai is in Kianjokoma to meet with locals after two weeks of unrest, initiated by the death of two brothers.

He was flanked by top police leadership in the eastern region, to address the situation after the two brothers died in the police station.

An autopsy at the Embu Level 5 hospital ruled out the possibility that two Embu brothers who died in police custody committed suicide by jumping out of a police car.

According to the autopsy, which was conducted by three pathologists: Dr Martha Mwangi, who represented the family, Dr Ndegwa, who represented the Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU), and Dr Doris Namu, who represented Embu Hospital, the injuries were not consistent with those that would be expected from a person who jumped out of a moving car.

Benson Njiru Ndwiga, 22, and Emmanuel Mutura Ndwiga, 19, died as a result of a blunt object breaking their ribs and injuring their heads.

IPOA has opened investigations into the death of the two.
