Kenyan exports totaled Ksh. 316.4 billion in the first half of the year.
Comparatively, Ksh. 277 billion were spent at the same time in 2021.
Tea, horticultural goods, and coffee were the top export commodities at the time.
Clothing and accessories, titanium ores, and tobacco were among the other top export items.
In June, the country’s current account balance improved to a deficit of 4.6% of GDP, down from the CBK’s preliminary estimate of 5.3%.
The country’s improved current account balance is in contrast to an increase in merchandise trade brought on by increased import expenses throughout that time.
The current account deficit was Ksh. 174.4 billion in the quarter that ended in June and Ksh. 582.8 billion over the previous 12 months to the middle of 2022, according to fresh statistics from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
