Police in Kitengela, Kajiado County, are looking for a woman who is accused of strangling her newborn baby and then dumping the body.
Locals discovered the infant’s body along Prisons Road. Residents were taken aback by the incident, which occurred early this morning.
“This baby was delivered by the roadside. It is not the first case this week. On Tuesday, another baby was found dumped in the area,” a resident told Citizen Digital.
Cases of newborns being abandoned are on the rise in Kitengela, with residents lamenting the high cost of living and mental health issues.
“The tough economic times compounded by the biting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many families,” said another resident.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to Kitengela Hospital mortuary.
