MOH, Partners To Identify Country’s Capacity for Cholera Response and Identify Areas of Improvement

This week, the Ministry of Health and its partners are conducting an After-Action Review (AAR) of the response to the cholera outbreak. This multidisciplinary strategy looks at the nation’s ability to respond to cholera and identifies areas for improvement, obstacles, and best practises.

The eight main pillars of the cholera preparedness and response plan are to be evaluated as part of the AAR, a collaborative and consultative process led by partners and health experts at the federal, state, and local levels.

Reducing the disease’s spread and death toll are the main goals of the cholera epidemic response. It covers a wide range of topics and is multisectoral, including risk communication, case management, water, sanitation, and hygiene, logistics, and community involvement.

It is anticipated that participants will document the most effective strategies employed throughout their response to facilitate peer-to-peer exchange of best practises or newly established capabilities across the nation. The Ministry of Health’s senior management will be informed of the results.

Technical and financial assistance for the national AAR has been provided by WHO Kenya and the WHO Emergency Hub in Nairobi.
