Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has been deposed as the Luhya spokesperson.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was named to replace him at a political gathering in Kakamega County’s Bukhungu Stadium.

In his new instructions, Governor Oparanya was given the authority to negotiate the community’s interest in the Azimio la Umoja movement by Western Region Elders.

The statement declared, “Western elders unanimously give over Oparanya as Luhya community leader with whom you [Raila Odinga] would negotiate the community’s interest in your government.”

The Bukhungu II summit also decided that the Luhya community will be a part of the Azimio la Umoja Movement.

In other elected offices, the Luhya people will only vote for candidates affiliated to Azimio la Umoja.

Musalia was also dealt a huge blow as leaders from ANC led by Deputy leader Ayub Savula declared their allegiance to Azimio La Umoja team.
