NMS Hands Over Nairobi Functions To Sakaja

Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has officially handed over the transferred functions, projects and powers back to the Nairobi County Government after two years in charge with the swearing-in of a new governor Johnson Sakaja.

This gives Governor Sakaja complete control of the county’s 14 functions.

Sakaja and outgoing Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa signed the deed officially transferring the functions on Friday.

Lt. Mohammed Badi, Director General of the NMS, said it was a remarkable two-year journey that saw change in Nairobi, and he was grateful to be a part of it.

“I would like to thank Governor Sakaja for helping us guide NMS to what we have achieved today… It has been a rigorous and remarkable 2 years culminating to this very moment as we officially handover the transferred functions back to the county government,” he said.

NMS took over control of Nairobi County in March 2020 after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko signed over the deed of transfer to the National government which appointed Badi and his team to run the capital city.
