Law enforcement in Meru County has apprehended Lucy Mwenda, a suspect accused of impersonating a police officer and terrorizing residents in Imenti North Sub-County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the arrest followed tip-offs from members of the public who alerted authorities to his activities.
Mwenda was taken into custody while riding a motorcycle with no registration number, which authorities describe as a “getaway vehicle.”

During a search of his possessions, officers recovered a collection of items associated with his impersonation, including a military jacket, military knee pad, military hat, camel bag, and a dagger.
Authorities say Mwenda has been using these items to pose as a law enforcement officer, creating fear and confusion in the local community.
He is now in custody and undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment.
