President-elect William Ruto has revealed that he has not spoken to President Uhuru Kenyatta in several months.
Despite the fact that the IEBC declared him President-elect on August 15, The sitting president would have expected him to be involved in transition issues.
Ruto stated in his first speech to the nation after the Supreme Court upheld his victory that he will contact the outgoing President after his speech to discuss transition modalities.
“I will be calling Uhuru Kenyatta shortly to discuss the process of transition. I haven’t talked to him in months,” he said.
Ruto stated that Uhuru worked hard in his own way to support his preferred candidate Raila Odinga, but that Kenyans made their decision.
“We have no issue with the democratic choices of Kenyans. When I supported him I did not give him condition to support me,” he said.
“We will remain, friends, as we have been in the context of where we are and we look forward to building n the foundation that is there.”
